Spaulding Field Hockey is a distinguished program within the school community. The student- athletes and coaches believe in integrity and teamwork leading to personal and team development. These key components of the program translate to on-field sportsmanship as well as off-field presence in the school and local community leading the field hockey program to sensational seasons as team and individuals.
Captains for the varsity program are voted for at the end of each season, those peer selected captains then have the opportunity to lead the entire varsity and junior varsity squads as one team in various activities throughout the summer and into the preseason. Activities include (not limited to) team conditioning, team workouts, team skills training, team bonding and fundraisers.
Once the summer is over the fun doesn’t stop, with your teammates by your side you begin school and a competitive field hockey schedule. Team building activities continue to take place along with strength, conditioning, skills training and community support. Spaulding Field Hockey pays thanks to those local businesses who have contributed to the fundraising success, they also participate in Freezing Fun for Families charity event and provide skills and conditioning training to both BYSA and Barre Town youth field hockey programs to instill the fundamentals of field hockey and the love of the game. Many of the student- athletes are additionally involved in school supported community service clubs such as Key Club and National Honor Society.
