Paving a Path to New Possibilities
Work Based Learning (WBL) allows students to explore careers, connect with businesses, and learn about the functions of an organization through Employee Panels, Job Shadows, and Internships.
In addition, WBL provides various opportunities for students to gain the necessary skills and knowledge around new technologies and/or emerging careers within a particular career cluster through workshops and hands on trainings.
These opportunities have been especially meaningful for students who are interested in exploring a particular career immediately after high school, students who may seek post-secondary education at a technical or community college, or students who are seeking a four year college education. For some students, they have appreciated the annual visits to an university or college within our state because they are more personal and focus upon their major whereas for others, it's their first time experience at a higher education institution or training program, such as the Advanced Welding Institute (AWI).
Regardless of which experience our students opt for, WBL is helping them invest in their future.
